So there i was, for the first time in about 8 years, standing poolside in my speedo's after deciding to become a triathlete.
The pool seemed to be full of middle aged men with a belly a little bigger than it's meant to be and furry torso's
and as they zoomed up and down the pool, i was like...
...mehh, how hard can it be?
i gets in, had a little splash about and fixed up my goggles ready for a quick 30 lengths or so
omfg!!!
all of a sudden i had MASSIVE respect for those middle aged dudes. as i clung onto the step at the end of my first length, i musta resembled a drowned rat, and with my heart pounding, shoulders burning, i thought...
...how the hell am i ever gonna manage to swim 3.8k?
im sure you have been like that at the start of any weight loss program you have started, but i wanted it, i wanted it bad and i had a good coach so i knew id get there.
over the winter months, it took alot of determination and 6.30am mornings, when it woulda been oh so easy to roll over and have another hour in a cozy bed, still dark, snowing, windy, rainy, i was making my way to the pool, 4/5 times per week.
now im not gonna pretend it was easy and i did stay in bed a little longer than i shoulda done somedays, while my coach was at the pool waiting on me :) but its the 80/20 rule right? Do things right 80% of the time and you wont go far wrong.
once i could swim a couple lengths my coach had me doing some drills etc to improve technique and what i learned from that helped me in some ways to put the sexy body weight loss course together because...
...it almost freekin killed me
ok, maybe im a little dramatic but i coulda done ;)
when i was concentrating on a certain technique, like how my hands were entering the water, i would be concentrating so hard that i would forget to breathe. :0
then when i moved onto another drill, say focusing on kicking, i would forget about how my hands were entering the water
so what i learned from this was i had to master one skill before i could focus on the next, i had to be able to do one thing without having to think about it before i could tackle the next
and its no different when you are trying to slim down
you have a certain set of daily habits, drinking, eating and exercise etc
when you embark on any form of 'diet' of lifestyle change, it usually comprises of massive change on a monday morning and doesn't last very long because it's...
...unfamiliar territory
humans on the whole, do not like change!!! just like all the nutrition and lifestyle habits crept up on you over a period of time, you have to replace them with better ones over a period of time if you are to create the lasting change you want in your life
thats what our members are doing inside our sexy body course, kicking diets in the ass... FOREVER!!!
See ya on the inside
